Welcome to my teaching portfolio!

I am a certified Pennsylvania elementary education teacher in grades PreK-4. I am a graduate of West Chester University, with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  On this site, you will find my professional experiences that I had completed throughout my undergrad as well as sample lessons and activities.

Philosophy of Education

I believe that it is my responsibility to encourage, enlighten, and educate the minds of our future.
Our students are the future.  We need to give our students the skills that are necessary so that they are ready for the future.  It is important as educators to inspire and motivate our students so they can be participants in society.
I believe that students will achieve the Common Core State Standards if they are actively engaged and participating in purposeful and meaningful activities.
All of the lessons and activities that we do in the classroom should be purposeful and meaningful for the students. If they are actively engaged, they will be motivated to learn.  This will allow the students to be successful in achieving the Common Core State Standards.
I believe that incorporating communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking in my teaching will help prepare my students to be college ready and career ready.
Communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking are the skills necessary for our students to be successful in the future.  These skills are also necessary for our students to be 21st Century learners. Planning activities that incorporate each of these skills will allow our students to be active participants in their learning, helping them when they enter college and/or the workforce.
I believe that everything that I do in the classroom should be student-centered, allowing me to help the students construct and build upon their knowledge.
Student learning should be student-centered because it allows them to be active participants in their learning.  It is important that students build their own knowledge because it allows them to truly understand the content being taught.  Students will be successful when they understand why they do what they do.
